When collaborating with influencers for paid advertising on social media, it's important to follow a specific process to turn their content into a Partnership Ad. Here's a step-by-step guide to streamline this process:

1. Obtain the Influencer’s code

Before you can promote the influencer’s post, story, or reel through Meta’s Ads Manager, you’ll need a special code from the influencer. Here’s how the influencer can generate and provide you with this code:

  • Select Content: The influencer should go to their Instagram profile and choose the post, story, or reel they want to promote as a Partnership Ad.

  • Access More Actions: They should tap on the three dots in the top right corner of the post or the bottom right corner for stories to access "More actions."

  • Enable Partnership Tools: From the menu, they need to select "Partnership Labels & Ads."

  • Generate the Code: Under this section, they will see an option to "Get Partnership Ad Code." They should also turn on "Add Paid Partnership Label" if the post is branded content.

  • Copy the Code: Once the code appears, the influencer can copy it to their clipboard by selecting "Copy" or send it directly to you via your campaign communication channel (e.g., in a campaign chat).

You can ask the influencer to provide the code with the following template:

"Hi [Influencer's Name],

I hope you're doing well! We're excited to promote your content as part of our upcoming campaign. To proceed, we’ll need a Partnership Ad code from you. Here are the steps to generate it:

  1. Choose a Post, Story, or Reel: Go to your Instagram profile and select the content you'd like us to promote.

  2. Access More Actions: Tap the three dots in the top-right corner of the post (or bottom-right for stories) and select "More actions."

  3. Enable Partnership Ad Code: Tap "Partnership Labels & Ads" and toggle on "Get Partnership Ad Code." If your content is branded, enable "Add Paid Partnership Label."

  4. Copy the Code: Once the code appears, tap "Copy" and send it to us via this chat or your preferred method.

Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks for your help!"

2. Creating the campaign in Meta Ads Manager

Once you've received the influencer’s code, you can set up your campaign in Meta Ads Manager. Here's an outline of how to proceed:

  • Create a new campaign: Start by creating a new campaign in Meta’s Ads Manager. If you’re unfamiliar with the platform, we recommend having a colleague who manages Ads Manager take care of this task, as it requires technical knowledge.

  • Use Partnership Ads option: While building the campaign, you will reach the third page of the setup process, where you’ll find the "Partnership Ad" option.

  • Enter the Code: Once you activate the Partnership Ad feature, you'll be prompted to input the code provided by the influencer. You can add codes from multiple influencers in one campaign if needed.

Tip: For more details on creating campaigns in Ads Manager, visit the Meta Business Help Center.

3. Best practices for Partnership Ads

  • Ensure the influencer follows the steps correctly to generate and provide the Partnership Ad code.

  • Double-check that the "Paid Partnership Label" is included if the content is branded, as this is a legal requirement in many regions.

  • If you’re managing multiple influencers, you can combine their codes into one campaign for efficiency.

By following these steps, your paid social media campaigns will run smoothly, leveraging influencer content to maximize reach and engagement.
